Absolute Technology and LCS have teamed up

Absolute are proud to introduce an environmentally friendly collection and secure disposal service 
of end-of-life electrical and electronic equipment. Established for over 15 years in the provisioning 
of business supplies and technology, we believe that it is part of our responsibility to keep you 
informed of new legislation which could affect your business.         

By June 2006, the UK Government were required under EU law to introduce legislation to protect the environment 
by reducing the amount of electrical equipment - this will include PC's, printers, laptops, phones and even 
domestic electrical equipment - dumped in skips and going into landfill.

Under this legislation, there will be fines of up to £20,000 for non-compliance or disposing of electrical equipment in an improper fashion. Therefore it is very 
important that you are able to demonstrate that you have disposed of any 'end-of-life' equipment in an environmentally responsible way.

Absolute have teamed up with Life Cycle Services (LCS), an organisation specialising in the collection and secure disposal of electrical equipment, with 
depotsthroughout the UK. LCS collects and disposes of second user IT equipment to the highest ethical and environmental standards, meeting all existing
and foreseeable legislation. We can arrange for collection of the equipment on your behalf, processing it in a secure and environmentally ethical manner 
and providing you with a report detailing the full process control and traceability of each asset.

In the course of this process any residual data on hard drives will go through a certified data destruction process (LCS utilises Blancco Data Cleaner+
(BDC+) 4.2 and 3.7r which provides 100% secure erasure) and a certificate will be issued to confirm its destruction. (Bear in mind that simply wiping
the hard disk does not remove the data, it can be retrieved! - The Blancco process will remove the data permanently).
